Colonial Air Transport was founded in 1926 in New York, NY by Juan Trippe, and moved their HQ to Boston in 1927. In 1930, it was acquired by AVCO to become American Airlines.[1]
Colonial acquired rights to fly the early U.S. airmail commercial route CAM-1, with the first flight held on July 26, 1926.[2]
